BUILDING ACCOUNTING STUDENTS WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS ONE ASSIGNMENT AT A TIME

Abstract
Employers have indicated they want graduates to have strong written and oral communication skills. This article discusses a series of written assignments, along with a final revised paper and presentation, that are used in an accounting course to integrate the achievement of course objectives and the development of student’s communication skills. The assignments are presented in a framework of shorter writing assignments designed to have students writing and revising more frequently, and to help instructors grade written assignments more efficiently.
