Abstract
In his seminal treatise on the media, Marshall McLuhan (1964, 23) asserted that “The medium is the message.” That is to say, “the personal and social consequences of any medium – that is, of any extension of ourselves – result from the new scale that is introduced into our affairs by each extension of ourselves, or by any new technology.” We have at hand a new technology and a new medium – video games. The presence of video games in media consumption could have hardly missed anyone’s attention. As we move into the second decade of the 21st century, video games have become one of the major media we interact with during the course of a day. Traditional forms, as Film, TV, newspapers still play a major role, but it is video games that have attracted interest.
