Abstract

Well before the reality of COVID 19 surfaced, many universities faced economic uncertainties due to decreased revenues. Small, private, nonprofit universities are tuition-dependent and need to lower costs to remain financially viable. University leaders must eliminate academic programs, reduce athletic offerings, and cut funding to other student services to sustain the university. How does the decrease in university spending impact the student experience? We will survey/interview a sample of recent graduates from a small, private, nonprofit university to gain a better understanding of how students perceived both the decisions made by the administration and the outcomes of those decisions. Our study will help other academic leaders make and communicate decisions that impact the student experience.
