Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present a literature review and quantitative and qualitative research data on the effect emotional intelligence (EI) and cross-cultural adaptability skills on the performance of managers in international business.

The literature review will cover the conceptual framework of scholars, such as, Salovey and Mayer’s (1990), Coleman (1995) and Bar-On (1997) among others, who are commonly known for their studies on EI.  The study will utilize Bar-On’s (1997) model of EI and its related instrument to assess five dimensions: intrapersonal abilities, interpersonal abilities, adaptability, stress management and positive attitude.
