Abstract

In today’s tumultuous business environment, organizations are searching for methods to increase their competitive advantage to insure not only continued economic viability but on-going profitability and success.  “The profound changes shaping the competitive business environment are also affecting how organizations prepare people for present and future challenges” (Day, 2000, p. 586). If community colleges focus on cultivating student leader self-development, organizations can then concentrate their strategy on hiring students who are better prepared for leadership and/or who have demonstrated a willingness to undertake self-development.
