Abstract

What is a successful data warehouse?  One that is built on a architectural foundation that is agile, flexible and reliable. A data model that is accurate both semantically and syntactically is a crucial first step. Of all the obstacles and challenges surrounding the building of the Business Intelligence (BI) systems and data warehouses money should not the main one - at least not in the short term. Not when you are forming the long term structures in which your organization's current and future integrated data will reside.

It is far better and less costly to opt for less sophisticated OLAP or GUI or a data mart, but not forgo the initial data warehouse modeling efforts.
